Day 22 True North

True North
Day 22

A very tough day of nausea but some ginger tea helped a lot (thanks for the recommendation, sis) and my very first food - a big bowl of watermelon chunks!! I'm doing pretty good. It's a very strange nausea and I still feel it lurking but, boy - was I in the hurt box. I am also battling a bladder infection and a doctor we've only seen twice came in this morning and told me to get cranberry capsules from the little store they have here to help with the symptoms. It made me mad no one else told me about them but...whatever. I'm also using the D-Mannose that will hopefully help me kick it for good. We are booked to come back here again in about 6 months and, at one point, I told Kiyomi I didn't think I could face it.

I need to speak up more and make specific requests. I have watermelon specially ordered for the next two days as well as fresh blueberries. I can start eating "watery veggies" tomorrow with fruits except citrus and pineapple because of the acid.

Been looking at how to convert recipes. Looking forward to making sausage lasagna, enchilada casserole, and Pulled Pork sandwiches, hoping they don't taste too strange. Staying away from Beyond Meat after learning they have an enormous amount of estrogen in them. There are some homemade salad dressings I'm excited to try but many include cashews to make the creamy, which I could overdo on. 1/2 an avocado works great too. Finding some good products and really watching the salt, oil, and sugar. Again...it's all about the veggies. A man I have a huge amount of respect for talks about greens 5 times per day. I suppose that is greens in my smoothy, greens for snack (including celery and cruciferous veggies so i could do celery with nut butter or broccoli/cauliflower with hummus, for example), salad as my main meal for lunch, some kind of green snack, and a salad and/or steamed veggies for dinner.

Unlike when I went to OHI in San Diego to learn to be raw vegan, I am excited about this because I can still cook and create yummy comfort foods. They said we are addicted to cooked food. Well, I guess I am and I'm not willing to give that up.

I pray you are warm and cozy and safe and know how much you are loved! Night night.

  1. Dear ladies,
I've been a vegetarian for more than 10 years. I hate replacement recipes. Please try Indian cuisine. There's a lot you can do vegan/vegetarian that just has its unique flavor.
I'm so happy you're both feeling better. Wishing you the best! You've been so brave!

Ya, I'm starting cytotoxic chemo tomorrow.

The good and the bad - accepting both.
